On Sunday 16th February Sandra Collins from Aycliffe Running Club joined 218 other runners at the inaugural Catterick 10K road race. All profits from the event entries and event shirts have been donated directly to the Help For Heroes charity.
Weather conditions were good and the runners even saw some sunshine. The course was very hilly in parts and included part of the Richmond 10K route. Sandra had a good race and finished in 49:12 gender position 10, category position 5.
There was a good turnout from Aycliffe Running Club on Sunday 16th February at Cowpen Bewley for the Ann Johnson Absent Friends 5 mile trail race. Although having a fall and injuring his knee in the last mile of the race, Dez Fielden was first to finish for Aycliffe in 33:05 3rd male over 40 and 10th position overall.
Next to finish for Aycliffe was Matt Heron in 35:50 followed by Martyn Knox 36:41, Peter Milburn 37:38, John Burnside 38:28, Nigel Holmes 39:16, Peter Smith 40:16 and Kevin Greenall 44:14 who was 3rd male over 60 and 84th position. First lady to finish for Aycliffe was Kelly Smith in 44:30 and 88th position overall, closely followed by Gary Minns 44:38 and then Chris Forster 45:17.
Judith Porter completed the course in 51:34 and was 3rd female over 60 and 149th position followed by Laura Knox who finished the course in 51:51. www.ayclifferunningclub.org.uk
