Although this last week has been a little quieter for races, members from Aycliffe Running Club have still been busy. This week saw members travel across the region and beyond for races.
On Sunday 18th February, three members travelled to Pocklington in Yorkshire for the Snake Lane 10. This is a 10 mile road race held on closed roads in and around the town of Pocklington at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds. Representing the club were John Surtees (59:36), Tracey Surtees (1:07:03) and Robert Young (1:09:37).
On the same day, two members travelled to Castleton on the North Yorkshire Moors for the Eskdale Eureka Fell Race. This saw runners take on a course of 14.3km with a total climb of 470 metres which obviously included a few hills. Representing the club were Richard Holland (1:34:18) and Shaun Dodd (1:43:19).
Moving further afield, two members travelled to Blackpool for the Great North West Half Marathon. Jean-Pierre Hupin finished fifth in the Men’s Over 65 category in a time of 2:34:11. Em Flynn also took part, despite suffering from illness on the day and in the run up to the event, finishing in a time of 2:34:51. Amazing from both of them.
