It has been another busy week for Aycliffe Running Club with members taking part in races across the region. This started with the third in the Muddy Roads series of races and the Lord Stones 5k. There were four members taking part including Matt Muir (20:16), Tracey Surtees (21:18) who continued her excellent form finishing as first female, John Surtees (21:19) and Tamara Kirk (28:06).
On Friday 16th June, one member took part in the fifth race in the York 5k series of races with John Surtees finishing sixth and first in the over 35 category in a time of 16:23.
On Sunday 18th June, one member took part in the Trail Outlaws Penshaw Half Marathon with Richard Johnson completing the event in a time of 2:47:02.
On Saturday 10th June, 24 members started their weekend with a parkrun, taking in the Brighouse, Sedgefield, Redcar, Hackworth, Farfalle, Leazes, and the Cinder Track (Whitby) events.
At Brighouse, Keith Hatton completed the event for the first time finishing in a time of 27.02. At Hackworth, John Surtees finished first in a time of 17:43 which equalled his personal best for this course. Tracey Surtees finished third and first female in a time of 20:35 which was a new personal best for this course, with Richard Campbell fourth and second male in a time of 20:39. On the same day Catherine McDonnell, completed her 250th parkrun which is an amazing achievement, finishing in a time of 27:52.
Another landmark was hit at Farfalle with Linda McNamee completing her 300th ever parkrun in a time of 38:45, another amazing achievement. At The Cinder Track, Carley Gibson completed the event for the first time in a time of 30:28.
On Saturday 17th June, 22 members started their weekend with a parkrun, taking in the Sewerby Sedgefield, Darlington South Park, South Shields, Hackworth, Peckham Rye, Oakwell Hall, Centre Vale, Tyne Green and Hamsterley Forest events.
At Sewerby, Shaun Dodds completed his 100th parkrun, setting a new personal best of 23:13 for this course. At South Shields Carley Gibson set a new personal best for the course of 28:04. At Hackworth, Kelly Dickinson completed her 150th run at this event finishing in a time of 30:49.
Floyd Jones completed the event at Peckham Rye for the first time, finishing in a time of 19:27. Catherine McDonnell also completed her first run at the Oakwell Hall event in a time of 32:38.
At Tyne Green Eva Dogley (26:41) completed the course for the first time knocking over 2 minutes off her previous personal best for any parkrun.
