The races are starting to come thick and fast now as we head through Easter and into summer racing. On Wednesday 29th March, 13 members took part in the Darlington Trail Series Race 1 with the 5k trail run at Locomotion. Those taking part included Dave Blewitt (24:09), Daniel Tatham (24:36), Sarah Gill (26:54), Melanie Rowland (31:57), Kelly Dickinson (32:05), Yvonne Blewitt (32:41), Nicola Ingman (33:19), Tracey Pickering (34:42), Eve Doe (35:29), Cliff Pickering (37:53), Susan Clark (39:55) and Rob Nicholson (41:46).
On Sunday 2nd April, two members took part in the Blakey Blitz which was a 17k fell race starting at the Lion Inn near to Castleton on the North Yorkshire Moors. The race included 855 metres of climbing with Richard Campbell finishing in a time of 1:46:32 and Richard Holland in a time of 1:54:34.
On Wednesday 5th April, seven members took part in the Pie and Peas 5k at Trimdon. This included Daniel Tatham (26:25), Sarah Gill (29:20), David Stothard (32:13), Samantha Harding (34:29), Jayne Rudd (34:31), Eve Doe (37:49) and Cliff Pickering (39:01).
At the same time, two members took part in the monthly South Shields mile, with Dave Blewitt finishing the mile in a time of 6:21 and Yvonne Blewitt in a time of 8:31.
On Good Friday, 11 members took part in the Easter Coast Road 5 Mile Race in Marske. This included Robert Young (32:35), Gary O’Connor (34:28), Andy Talbot (35:22), Trevor Needham (36:00)m, Trish Kay (41:28), David Stothard (42:33), Michaela Kerr (45:49), Kirsty Cameron (46:20), Samantha Harding (48:49), Eve Doe (50:42) and Ian Stothard (59:18).
On 10th April, one member took part in the Dalton Park Easter 5k, with Ian Stothard finishing in a time of 39:57 and third in the Men’s 50-54 category. In the 10k race, David Stothard finished in a time of 58:47.
On Saturday, 28 members started their weekend with a parkrun taking in the Albert, Durham, Sedgefield, Burgess, Stewart, Darlington South Park, Hackworth, Skipton, Keswick and Dalby Forest events.
Floyd Jones took part at Burgess for the first time finishing in a time of 19:42. Carley Gibson continued with her parkrun tourism by taking part at Dalby Forest for the first time, finishing in a time of 26:45.
At Hackworth, Richard Campbell finished second in a time of 19:49. At Skipton, Paul Dalton (20:46) and Jayne Rudd (29:58) completed the course for the first time.
