Liberal Democrat councillors are celebrating improvements to roundabouts in Woodham, with new sustainable planting with stunning displays that have been installed on three roundabouts in the area.
The planting has been funded through councillors’ local neighbourhood budgets and the County Council’s clean and green team.
Councillor Michael Stead, who came up with the idea and has led on the project, explained, “Every year the council spend a huge amount of money on annual planting and regular watering of flower displays.
“This sustainable planting will last for many years, look stunning and require little maintenance, saving money for the council. I’m delighted we have managed to improve these central locations for residents in time for the spring.
“I’d also like to applaud all our local clean and green teams for doing an amazing job and will continue to work with them on even more improvements for our area.”
Fellow Liberal Democrat, and a town councillor, Lindsey Aston, added, “Michael has done a huge amount to improve the look of our area and I’m delighted to have been able to work with him on this and many other projects around the area which are really benefitting people.”
The new displays also help to reduce safety issues for staff having to cut grass on the roundabouts.
