Newton Aycliffe Rotary Club is once again seeking candidates for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards scheme.
Rotary is one of the largest international service organisations in the world, and its members are dedicated to helping young people unlock their potential. The RYLA award is one of the most powerful ways of making that happen. Rotary clubs sponsor many young people through RYLA programmes each year, the aim of the programme being to help them discover their potential and develop the skills needed to be a leader in their community, career and everyday life. The course can be arduous and physically demanding so a reasonable level of fitness is required to ensure participants get the most out of the course.
The course runs for five days, and this year’s event is once again being held at The Kingsway Centre, Middleton-in-Teesdale. Two courses will be held – course one will be from Monday 5th August 2019 to Friday 9th August 2019. The second runs from Monday 12th August to Friday 16th August. Successful candidates will go on either one. All local participants are selected and sponsored by Newton Aycliffe Rotary Club and to be eligible candidates must be between 16 and 20 on 31st July 2019.
Whether you are a secondary school pupil, college or university student or young professional, RYLA will help you discover your potential. You will be a member of a team of like-minded young people and will gain first hand experience in the challenge of leadership, Don’t miss the chance to participate in this exciting and rewarding programme. Discuss with your school, college, organisation or employer whether they will nominate you.
The closing date for applicants is 28th February 2019. If you are interested, or know someone whom you feel suitable for this course, or need further information, please contact Rotarian Ruth Dawson on 01325 321729 or email rualdawson@hotmail.co.uk.
