Rotary Newton Aycliffe has had a visitor this week, all the way from Australia. Ian Tooke is a member of Rotary in Blayney, New South Wales and was here staying with Rotarian Roger Curtis whilst his wife was attending a conference in Manchester as an international board member of Inner Wheel.
Ian spent his working life in teaching, then on retirement, joined Rotary. In 2007, he also got involved in a Men’s Shed project and he related how this type of community support has taken off in a big way in Oz. There is obviously a need as there is in this country.
After attending our weekly meeting, the next day Ian was treated to lunch at The County with 14 members and guests. A very enjoyable day.
Thanks for your company Ian.
