The Christmas and New Year Celebrations mean that everyone’s budget is severely strained and that is all the more reason why the Rotary Club of Newton Aycliffe is especially grateful for the monies donated by so many people in this area.
A considerable sum was raised through the Club’s activities with the “Santa’s Sleigh” around the houses in Newton Aycliffe, Woodham, Heighington and School Aycliffe, our collections in Tesco, donations from children in Schools, individuals and from Tesco itself.
This enabled the Club to send many Christmas Hampers to families in need of help over the Christmas period. Just as importantly this means we can continue helping those in need throughout the year.
It was especially gratifying to listen to people’s comments, whilst they were making the donations, that they appreciated the work of the Rotary Club and knew that the money would be put to good use and, as they say, “there’s nowt taken out!”. All funds received are used to benefit individuals, groups and Charities, mainly within this immediate area.
On behalf of the Club I thank everyone for their continued support and wish you all a happy and peaceful 2013.
