The speaker at the Rotary meeting last week was James Gregg of The Leprosy Mission who is the Regional Manager for the North East of England. James gave an informative Powerpoint presentation showing the work in Nepal of the rebuilding of the hospital which treats all people as well as those with leprosy.
The work in Africa includes treating leprosy and helping people grow their own food and become self sufficient. Leprosy is not a “Bible” disease and is still with us today with sufferers in most cases becoming outcasts from their homes and families. It can be treated and cured with support given to those who took treatment too late. President Nora Scott who nominated The Leprosy Mission as her charity this year presented a cheque to James to enable the work to continue
