Professor Paul Keane OBE, Chair of CDDFT was delighted to be invited to collect cheques from both Newton Aycliffe Rotary and Santander Bank following recent fundraising for the MRI Scanners Appeal at Woodham Golf Club.
Incoming President of Newton Aycliffe Rotary Jon Bean said, ‘We know so many people who have had need of a MRI Scanner at some point in their lives, for so many different medical conditions. It was very important to us at Rotary that we could support such a good local cause and be a part of bringing state of the art MRI technology to our local hospitals.’
Professor Paul Keane said, ‘Rotary Clubs are renowned for their generosity the world over and we are delighted that not only did they raise a fabulous amount but that they worked with Kate Ross, Branch Manager at Santander in Newton Aycliffe who both volunteered during the fundraising events and then match funded the Rotary donation adding a further £2500.00 to the MRI Scanner Appeal.’
The grand total of the combined donations was £4767.00 which is amazing, Charity Manager Pat Chambers said, ‘Newton Aycliffe Rotary Club were one of the first local clubs to step up and show their support the MRI Appeal and their help has not been limited to financial support.
Club members have helped at many events our own charity have organised or attended, from bag packs in supermarkets to country shows such as Wolsingham and the Weardale Show. We are very grateful to Newton Aycliffe Rotary, the fundraising for the MRI Scanner Appeal continues in earnest, with £700,000 already raised by local people and a further £300,000 needed before the invoice falls due for payment in December 2018.
We continue to rely on the goodwill of our communities for their support in our fundraising endeavours and if anyone can help in any way with this appeal, please call me on 07770455651 to discuss further.’
