A great night was had by all who attended the Rotary Club Charity Night at the Phoenix Club last Friday.
People enjoyed Bingo, music by Howard of Starlight Disco, home-made Pie & Peas, Tombola and a raffle. The entertainment was provided by Debbie Taylor-Smith, Evelyn Lodge and Amy May, three local singers who were absolutely brilliant, receiving great applause from an appreciative audience.
All the entertainment was provided free of charge. The Club gave their premises and facilities free and over many years have always supported Rotary Charity Nights.
“Sue and Paul Land, Tommy Sutton and all the staff were wonderful and we can’t thank them and the entertainers enough for their help and support” said President of the Rotary Club Denese Cartwright.
The proceeds from this event is for community defibrillators which Rotary is helping to provide in prominent public places.
One of the life-saving machines was recently installed in Tesco’s and Honest John is funding another for Simpasture area. The aim is to have them sited in places all around the town to give immediate access to people who suffer heart attacks. Every minute saved in using defibrillation helps the survival rate.
