Rose Lodge Care Home, Carers Way, and the Newton Aycliffe Stroke Association support group joined forces to hold a charity fundraising coffee morning at the home.
The event was a great success as members of the local Stroke Association group and residents, staff, families and friends and visiting guests treated themselves to cuppas and delicious cakes to raise money for charity group the Stroke Association.
The coffee morning was held for the Stroke Association’s “Make May Purple” annual stroke awareness month, which takes place every May. During the month friends, families and communities show their support for their loved ones who have been affected by stroke and help to raise awareness and essential funds for the Stroke Association.
Nicola Wheatley, Manager at Rose Lodge, was delighted with the day’s success: “It was a lovely morning. We had lots of visitors and raised a fabulous £103 for the Stroke Association. It’s always nice to enjoy a coffee and cake while raising money for a very worthy cause.”
The Newton Aycliffe Stroke Association voluntary group offers peer support for stroke survivors, as well as activities including communication support, speakers, outings, meals, games and quizzes, to help people in the area come to terms with a life after stroke.
