For the last few weeks, nearly on a daily basis and also in previous years, there is an obscene smell in the air, presumably coming from fields near to the town .
Why should we have to tolerate such a horrendous smell? They don’t just emanate from the Woodham area where I live, but also from the Greenfield area where a friend of mine lives and several other places.
This is not the normal smell you get from fields after they’ve been treated with manure. It appears to be something more sinister.

Ed: Three years ago the “smell” was so bad it had to be dealt with by the County Council Environmental Health Department who brought the problem under control. It seems to have been short-lived on this occasion, but we urge readers to complain to DCC if it returns.
