To mark the centenary of the end of WW1, many townspeople have been busy knitting poppies. On Sunday 4th Nov they will be placed on the railings round the town centre roundabout. St Clare’s Church is also being decorated in remembrance with poppy displays, and there will be beautiful poems on display for you to read, about war and it’s effect, from the pupils of Sugar Hill School. Perspex Tommies will be seated in church, reminding us in a deeply poignant display, of the many who did not return.
During the week beginning Monday 5th November, the doors of St Clare’s church will be open daily from 10am til noon. You are most welcome to visit us briefly to see what’s going on, or to take a bit more time to sit and think, maybe pray. We will be serving tea and coffee and biscuits, no charge, and would love to have a chat with you, about remembrance time, or anything you like. Please feel free to drop in, look, talk, drink, or just for some quiet time, you will be most welcome.
