Dear Sir,
I would like to know if anyone has experienced the same issue before, relating to the collection of recycle bins.
I would point out that the men who do this job are the salt of the earth, they work in all weathers and do a great job. It’s the management that I cannot understand.
The bins in our cul-de-sac were not emptied on Friday 16th August because there was road works in the street. I phoned Durham County Council to inform them that none of the bins had been emptied for the whole of the cul-de-sac, but I was told to ring back on the Monday.
This I did, only to be told that they don’t work on a Monday. I gave all the relevant details for my home and stipulated that all the bins needed emptying in the cul-de-sac. I received an email to inform me that it would be sorted, and it was . . . Great.
The best bit was that my bin was emptied – but it was the only one, the rest in the street weren’t. So when I got back to the council and asked the obvious question, I was told that everyone has to ring to inform the council themselves – “but I told you twice about the situation” I retorted in a pleasant and curious way, but to no avail.
So, when we get our bills for the council tax, it will have to pay for the extra trips/fuel/wages, when the rest of the residents in my street tell the council to come and empty their bins when it could have been done at the same time that they emptied mine!
I think the management need to take a long hard look at themselves.
