“It’s great to be joining a fostering service where children are at the centre of things and there is a strong commitment to supporting them well in all areas of their lives”.
That’s what our new fostering team manager Keith Miller thinks about joining the Reach Out Care team.
Keith has been a social worker for more than 30 years and has held many senior positions. Two highlights have been pioneering a children’s refuge with a national charity and spending five years with British Association for Adoption and Fostering (BAAF) as a trainer and child care consultant.
“I am really pleased to be at Reach Out Care – the agency has a good track record in providing high levels of support to foster carers which is really important, ” he said. “I also love the fact that it’s a not-for-profit agency and that I will get to spend time with children and young people and work alongside the foster carers.
“Many referrals now are for children who have complex backgrounds. My vision is to provide an enhanced training programme for foster carers based on recent research and practice on attachment, resilience and therapeutic parenting. This will allow them to work more therapeutically with children who need support to recover from earlier difficult and traumatic experiences in their lives. ”
Welcome on board Keith!
