Model railway enthusiasts from across the country enjoyed a really successful exhibition hosted by Rotary Newton Aycliffe on Saturday 25 March at the Youth & Community Centre with some 525 visitors during the day. The exit poll showed people from as far away as Tavistock in Devon and with over 80% from outside Newton Aycliffe.
Proceeds from the event will be forwarded to the Great North Air Ambulance and Parkinson’s Disease Research.
Winners in the various categories were:-
The Hardaker Memorial Trophy – ‘Humphrey Road Sidings’ by Raven Miniatures
John Henry Jones Trophy – ‘Black Beck Yard’ by Rob Sowerby
Edwina Burrows Memorial Trophy – ‘Why 0 Y’ by Peter Grant
The organisers were delighted to welcome Paul Howell MP, Cllr Ken Robson, Mayor of Great Aycliffe Town Council, and his consort Elaine along with Steve Rose, District Governor of Rotary North East, all of whom formed the presentation party.
Particular thanks go to the management of the Youth Centre and to the Air Cadets who helped so much on the day.
