Greenfield Community College is once again celebrating outstanding English GCSE results. 96% of the 98 students who sat their exam achieved grade C or above. More importantly, these results reflect the commitment at Greenfield to support every student to succeed as 100% of entrants achieved at least 3 levels of progress [in line with government expectations].
However teachers and students at Greenfield never settle for just what is expected! By understanding the needs of every child and building their confidence, English teachers have supported 60% of the year group to achieve 4 levels of progress, 11% to achieve 5 levels and 4 extremely hard-working and determined students to achieve an incredible 6 levels of progress.
Tino Lewis, one of the 8 students with a target grade of C from primary school but who achieved an A/A* grade was delighted with both his own efforts and the support of his teachers. Tino, who hopes to study A level English language and literature at college said “I felt prepared for the exam thanks to my teacher who was really helpful.”
David Priestley, headteacher, said: “These outstanding results reflect the hard work and commitment of both staff and students at a time of great change in education.”
