Great Aycliffe Town Council and Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership are pleased to announce an extension to the skate park in the Town Park, is now complete.
The extension features additional equipment, including a quarter pipe, street spine and fun box combination, plus a roll in and quarter pipe combination, all chosen by users of the skate park.
The extension is a result of requests from users and the success of skateboard competitions, funded by GAMP and organised by One Point Youth Workers.
Great Aycliffe Town Council is grateful for support received from GAMP and from Durham County Councillors Joan Gray, Paul Gittins, Mike Dixon and John Moran, who contributed almost £20,000 from their Neighbourhood Budget allocations. The Town Council will continue to maintain and operate the equipment.
Councillor Brian Hall, Chairman of the Recreation Committee and Chair of GAMP, said ‘We are delighted to extend and enhance the existing skate park facility, working in partnership with GAMP and Durham County Council Elected Members. I am sure the young people will enjoy the additional equipment provided’.
Adam White, GAMP Coordinator, said ‘The skate park is a fantastic resource for the local young people, which is heavily utilised. Further extension of the equipment was highly justified and very much needed’.
