One of the UK’s most popular folk singers is making a return to Gala’s stage this spring. Kate Rusby, whose music career spans more than 25 years, will showcase her latest album as well as old favourites from her previous collections.
“I’m bringing a little bit of everything – old songs, new songs, old songs with new tunes, new songs with old tunes, sad songs and happy songs,” she said.
“The audience can expect guitars, banjos, basses, accordions, chatting, laughing, fairy lights, dresses – the list goes on. A little something for everyone I think.”
The Yorkshire-based artist – one of the very few folk singers to be nominated for a Mercury Prize – has always stayed true to her folk and acoustic roots and is promising a truly unforgettable concert when she returns to Durham on Thursday, 3 May.
“It’s been four years since I last visited the lovely Gala and over the many times I’ve been I’ve always been given a warm welcome – that’s why we keep coming back,” she added.
Tickets for the show, which starts at 7.30pm, cost £25 and can be bought at www.galadurham.co.uk or via the box office on 03000 266 600.
