The ladies at St Mary’s Sewing and Knitting group are still hard at work knitting poppies for the armistice day memorial. So far the group have amassed over 500 poppies from their own work and donations from others.
The group meet on a Wednesday between 1 and 3pm, anyone is welcome to join them or to drop off donations of red wool.
There are also various other groups around the town producing wool poppies, which Newton News will feature over the coming weeks.
