Sugar Hill Primary Year 5 and Year 6 children and their classroom staff spent all day Tuesday 17th January with Newton Aycliffe police completing workshops on Anti-Social Behaviour, Bullying, Internet Safety and Crime and Consequences. Vital information and key messages were shared with the children to ensure they know about risks and how to stay safe. This is an annual event in our school calendar and reinforces messages school staff deliver throughout the year as part of safeguarding procedures. The police officers also spent the lunch hour talking to children in Years 1, 2, 3 and 4, further building community links with our younger children.
Sugar Hill Leadership Team would like to thank the police officers for leading these workshops and to Sergeant Boyd for both coordinating and leading sessions. Mrs Legge, Deputy Head Teacher and Safeguarding Lead, will be checking in with Year 5 and Year 6 children over the next few weeks to talk to them about the workshops and the key messages they can remember.
