Police Cadets received training from the county’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) at a special event held this week.
The training session, hosted by PCC Ron Hogg, took place at Durham Constabulary headquarters on Thursday 3rd March, 2016.
The evening started with an inspection where Ron spoke to every cadet while on parade. He then gave a presentation and took part in the Q&A session answering a range of questions from Ron’s greatest fears and his greatest achievements to his favourite superhero. Ron said:
“This has been a unique opportunity to hear first-hand why these young people chose to be involved in the police service, what interests them and what they would like to achieve by the end of their cadet training.
“The cadet scheme is run by Durham Agency Against Crime, and has come a long way since its launch in January 2014. I look forward to seeing how these latest trainees develop their knowledge and skills over the coming months.”
The cadets also took part in a knowledge check, relating to subjects they had learnt in their training so far. Finally they were asked ‘What is the best thing about being a cadet’? Answers included “It got me an apprenticeship with the police”, “It’s made me a much more confident person” and “I feel included and valued”.
