THREE men armed with a samurai sword and a hammer threatened staff at a newsagents before taking cash and cigarettes.
Shortly before 7pm last Wednesday, December 6, the men threatened a member of staff at the Seasons Express store on Geneva Road, Darlington, before leaving with the contents of the till and cigarettes.
They then fled the scene in the direction of Harris Street towards the Eastbourne Park area.
Detective Sergeant John Hoar, from Darlington CID, said: “This was a frightening ordeal for those involved.
“Thankfully the female member of staff and a customer who was in the shop at the time were not injured. However, they have understandably been left shaken by the incident.
“We’d encourage anyone who witnessed the incident, or who saw the men before or afterwards to contact us.”
