A LEADING County Durham hotel has proved it sows the seeds for success, after being recognised with a top award.

Ramside Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa is celebrating after winning gold in Northumbria in Bloom’s best pub/hotel category.

It is the latest in a number of gold medals from the competition over the years, including being named Hotel of the Year in 2015.

This year the venue has been commended for its “excellent” multi-coloured bedding displays, which were all grown and maintained to a very high standard, with the grounds described as “a credit to the gardening team”.

And judges also praised the hotel, which is set in 350 acres of grounds, for its full and large hanging baskets, a strong use of colour and well-designed permanent planting areas.

The hotel is part of the Ramside Estates portfolio and grows the flowers at its own market garden, based at sister hotel Hardwick Hall Hotel, at Sedgefield.

John Adamson, who owns Ramside Estates, is delighted that the hard work of the staff has been recognised once more.

“We offer a luxury experience at the hotel and that is why attention to detail is something we hold in such high regard,” said John.

“The whole team works incredibly hard to make sure the grounds are always looking their best, so that guests can make the most of the beautiful surroundings when they stay with us.

“It is fantastic to be awarded gold in such a competitive category and it is especially a testament to the hard work of our head gardener, Harry Howe, who always goes above and beyond.”

Ramside Hall Hotel is just a short drive from Durham and is also known for its award-winning spa, featuring five pools, a sophisticated thermal suite and a wide range of luxury treatments.
