To the Town Clerk . . .
Dear Mr Bailey,
Please accept a petition by the people of the Acorn Residents Association area who believe that removing the Guy Fawkes Night celebrations will impact detrimentally on the safety of various residents in Great Aycliffe and may result in damage to property in the town.
It is our belief that instead of having a central supervised event many members of the public will have individual parties which will add pressure on our police and fire service and may be more dangerous than the current arrangement at the Oak Leaf Complex.
Nowhere in any election literature from any candidate, any individual or party at the recent elections was an election pledge to reduce facilities in our town.
Please give an assurance that any safety issues will be addressed and our fireworks display will be resumed in 2014.
Ken Robson
Chairman Acorn Residents Assocaition.
