Students at Woodham Academy took to the stage for the final time this year as they performed their annual summer concert. This performance this year had the theme of ‘A Night of #1s’, and featured some excellent performances.
Acts included debut performances from the newly formed Steel Pan group, made up entirely of Year 7 students, and Niamh Thompson, who played the song Fever on drums. The cast from this year’s musical ‘Grease’ also reunited, along with a Year 7 percussion group, to perform the hit song From Now On from ‘The Greatest Showman’.
Head of Music, Mr Gales, commented “The standard of these performances gets better every year. It is excellent to see so many new faces taking part and hearing them talk about how much they enjoyed it is so pleasing to hear. The thing that is so exciting about these concerts is how much the students organise themselves. Students took it upon themselves to choreograph some of the dances, form and rehearse a house band, host the show and run all the light and sound equipment. It is brilliant to see them all working so well together as part of a team.”
