Students at King James I Academy have created penpal style greeting cards for elderly residents in two local care homes, Eden House Care Home and Church View Care Centre.
Cards were created by Media and Art pupils in Year 9 and in Sixth Form and each was hand coloured and embellished with care to make them completely unique. All contained a short letter from each student to tell the recipient a little about their life, favourite subjects, hobbies and hopes for the future. The intention was simply to reach out to elderly residents and show that others are thinking of them in times when visiting may be limited. Cards were delivered by Media Teacher, Miss Davies and received by Tracey McKerr, Wellbeing Coordinator at Eden House, and Jenifer Parkinson, Manager at Church View.
