Dear Sir,
We have corresponded previously about the use of an 0844 telephone number at the surgery.
I am pleased to tell you – and your readers – that from Wednesday 12th February there will be a new local number – 01325 528000 – to ring. Patients should continue to use the 0844 number until this date.
It has taken us a while to realise our aim of completely removing the need for the 0844 number because we have had to wait for technology and the new BT “Fibre At The Cabinet” broadband supply to arrive.
The new service will use the Voice over Internet Protocol and will allow calls to be queued -so no one should ever get the engaged tone when ringing – and other features such as call recording and reporting.
It’s required another large investment by the GPs here at Peaseway – one that they are pleased to make to ensure that our patients continue to obtain an excellent service.
For Peaseway Clinic –the “private” clinic – the number will also be changed. We will ensure that a clear message is on the old number which will provide all callers with the new numbers if they happen to use the old telephone numbers by mistake.
