PCP Board regularly considers the mix of skills, knowledge and experience it needs to effectively govern, lead and deliver the charity’s purposes and at the recent AGM, PCP trustees voted unanimously to appoint Barry Knevitt to become the new Chairperson and Heather Brewster as the new Treasurer.
Barry brings a wealth of experience from his career in the Police service spanning over 31 years’ with extensive knowledge in partnership working at local and strategic levels; and has been a PCP Board member since 2013 holding the position of Vice Chair from 2017.
Barry explained, “Having shadowed the previous Chair, Melanie Fordham, for the past year I now feel equipped to support the further development of the organisation and I am honoured to have been chosen to undertake this role by my peers. I am an avid supporter of PCP and very proud of what is achieved through the range of projects and services delivered in communities. As we move into a period of planning for the future I am committed to work closely with the Board of Trustees, Chief Executive and leadership team to help set the tone and direction for the next 3 years.”
Trustees also appointed Heather Brewster to the position of Treasurer, as PCP’s longstanding Treasurer stood down from this role. Carol Gaskarth, PCP’s Chief Executive said, “Brian Wilson has been involved with PCP from the beginning and has served as Treasurer for 19 years. The Trustees and I are extremely grateful for the support Brian has provided and during this time PCP has become a highly respected charity with a focus on improving health and wellbeing. We are pleased that Brian is able to continue to support PCP by remaining as a Trustee. Brian is handing over the mantle to Heather who has been a board member since 2014; she is a Chartered Accountant and Chair of PCP’s Finance and Investment sub-committee, so was a natural successor.
“It is important to refresh charity boards periodically and I would like to pass on my personal thanks to the trustees who left PCP during the year, Paul Davison, Angela Dinsdale, Melanie Fordham and Syd Howarth. The time they have dedicated has helped shape PCP’s robust governance arrangements and direction. We are in a strong position for the future and have also welcomed new trustees, David Cockburn and Lynn Mohan. They both bring very different skills to the team and we look forward to working with them in the coming years.”
