Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) has launched a new initiative aimed at supporting individuals and families facing fuel and food poverty, ensuring they can access vital services in a welcoming and supportive space.
PCP has previously worked closely with disadvantaged groups and individuals, with the recent Welcome Space initiative, which saw 226 visits over the 13 sessions. With 1,179 households in Newton Aycliffe living in fuel poverty, PCP are determined to support the local community by offering this new weekly session.
The Supportive Space will provide a welcoming and inclusive environment to help tackle fuel poverty. This project aims to offer both immediate relief and long-term solutions to those in need.
Running weekly until the end of December, sessions will take place every Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm at the Pioneering Care Centre (PCC) in Newton Aycliffe, where attendees can:
• Enjoy a free healthy meal from the Community Café, along with a
recipe card to recreate the meal at home economically.
• Access free charging stations and quiet spaces for phones, laptops,
and tablets.
• Receive signposting and practical support from staff and volunteers,
including help with registering for the Priority Services Register PSR.
• Take part in regular social interactions, helping to build a sense of
community and reduce isolation.
This initiative has been made possible with funding by Point North from the Northern Gas Networks Community Partnering Fund.
