Dear Sir,

Pavement parking is becoming an epidemic and I believe that some drivers do it out of habit, even when it doesn’t help with the flow of traffic.

While it isn’t illegal to park with one or more wheels on the pavement, except in London. It is however illegal to block the pavement as to stop pedestrians, parents with prams or pushchairs as well as our disabled friends in wheelchairs or on scooters getting past without having to go on the road. After all, roads are for vehicles and pavements for pedestrians.

There are also those who park blocking drop kerbs, which is also illegal and are there to assist parents with prams or pushchairs as well as disabled people get down off the pavement to cross the road.

The government is looking into legislation to stop all pavement parking in the UK. So until then please consider others and think before you park.
