At the Annual Meeting on the 13th May, outgoing Town Mayor Wendy Hillary presented a cheque for £4,840, the proceeds of her charity events throughout her year of office, to The County Durham School Benevolent Fund and Cruse Bereavement Care.
In congratulating Wendy on her performance as Mayor the Town Council Leader Bob Fleming said she had carried out the role during a very busy life, working and looking after her family. No invitation was turned down and she was friendly, approachable and a credit to our town.
Counc. Bob Fleming was elected Leader and Counc. Malcolm Iveson Deputy Leader. The Council appointed Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of all committees and published attendance figures and Councillors’ allowances.
