Students at Woodham Academy are working hard to practise their French ahead of their upcoming trip to the Côte Opale in northern France next month. This is an annual event in Woodham Academy’s calendar and, for many, one of the highlights of Year 8.
Staying next to a glorious sandy beach just an hour south of Calais, students will have the opportunity to use their recently acquired language skills and to experience French life and culture.
During their week-long visit, they will go to Nausicaa, one of the best aquariums in Europe, bake their own croissants in a boulangerie and taste the specialities at the local chocolate factory.
During a day in the beautiful resort of Le Touquet, there will be a team challenge to buy a picnic lunch at the weekly market, followed by an afternoon at Aqualud water park.
Woodham Academy headteacher, Christine Forsyth, says, “Not only is this visit hugely enjoyable, it is for many a first taste of travelling to a different country and speaking in a foreign language. We wish our students Bon voyage!”
