Dear Sir,
This week the schools opened with a sigh of relief from most parents and a lot of the children. However, the driving standards in the mornings for the start of the school day, and when schools are letting the children out, haven’t improved at all, in fact it’s probably got worse.
Parents parking where they like, in front of drives, on pavements, corner of junction and keep clean lines, just to save them walking a few extra steps. Then there are the late comers who drop their children off on the yellow zig-zag lines or just literally stop anywhere.
Do these individuals not realise the dangers they are putting other children and parents in, as well as their own children?
I would also like to make a comment regarding the installation of the traffic islands at the mini roundabout at the bottom of School Aycliffe Lane, which one of your readers complained about. I personally don’t see how they cause a problem for any drivers, in fact they improve the situation as they stop drivers going over or diagonally cutting the roundabout, which of course drivers shouldn’t be doing anyway.
