Using the park and ride service in Durham City will get even easier from 30 June as the Belmont site extends its service.
Following on from the excellent customer satisfaction survey, where 100 per cent of those asked said the service was good or very good, respondents indicated that they would like to see the service extended. As a result, the Belmont service, operated by Arriva and NSL Ltd. on behalf of Durham County Council, will be trialling a late night and Sunday Service up until 22nd December 2013.
The extra services will provide dedicated access into the city for a series of upcoming events that form part of the council’s Year of Culture. This will make it even easier for visitors to enjoy the return of the Lindisfarne Gospels, the Brass: Durham International Festival, the Durham Streets Summer Festival and Lumiere Durham.
The Sunday service will run from 9.00am to 6.00pm and a late night service will be in operation on Thursdays until 10pm. The service costs £2.00 per person which provides free parking and all day travel on both the park and ride and cathedral bus services.
Adrian White, head of transport and contract services, said: “The extended park and ride service will make it even easier for people to come and enjoy all of the exciting events taking place in Durham City over the coming months.”
