The search is on for entrants from across the region to enter the Miss Great Britain 2016 beauty pageant. Regional finals will take place in May and June this year to select the winners of four local titles, namely: Miss Teesside GB, Miss Durham GB, Miss Sunderland GB and Miss Newcastle GB.
The lucky winners of the local competitions will win automatic entry into the Miss North East GB competition later in the year and many other exciting prizes and opportunities such as a contract with competition sponsors, modelling and casting agency, Headline Models!
Miss North East GB Director, Simon Robertson, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing this event back to the North East.”
“After the huge success in 2015 we wanted to do something different, so in 2016 we will be holding two finals by splitting them into regions but still crowning our four winners once more. The finals will be spectacular events with catwalk shows, dinner and entertainment and our theme of Moulin Rouge promises to make it another superbly exciting event.”
“We are also very excited about this year’s competition to find the most beautiful young women in the North East because the eligibility criterion for entry to the competition has changed to become more inclusive and representative of the modern woman.”
This year’s competition is open to women aged 18 to 27 years who may be single, married, divorced or be mothers.
There is a fundraising element to the competitions and funds this year are being raised for Butterwick Hospice Care and Capital Radio’s charity ‘Make Some Noise’.
Clair McGregor, Events Team Lead for Butterwick Hospice said: “Butterwick Hospice is really excited to be one of the chosen charities of the Miss North East GB competition. It is a fantastic opportunity for all of the contestants and the funds raised will really make a difference to our patients and their families.”
Giles Tanner, Managing Editor, Capital & Heart North East said: “We are really excited to be partnering Miss North East GB, it’s a fantastic opportunity for real women across Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham and Teesside to become the face of our region and at the same time to raise money for a fantastic cause Global’s Make Some Noise, to help change young lives.”
