The British Red Cross had a take over day on Friday 17th May. Paula Bruce, Manager invited PACE to come along for the day which was a great opportunity for us to get the local community involved within the society and to help promote the British Red Cross and of course the wonderful work of the PACE Shop.
Vanessa Scott staff member of PACE came along with Colin Dunn, Jill Howard and Eileen Heslop at 10am until 2pm. Colin, Jill and Eileen were very keen to get started. Colin really enjoyed doing the CDs and DVDs. Colin has been a regular customer and always likes to buy CDs and DVDs it was heart warming to see the look on Colin’s face of pure satisfaction once the job was finished.
Jill and Eileen were of great help putting plenty of garments out for the many customers to see, both were very keen to help customers find what they were looking for and Jill enjoyed being on the till, especially taking customers cash from them. Eileen was keen to put the purchases into the bags and together we all managed to keep the customers happy.
Jill was very keen to help and make sure customers were greeted with a smile. Eileen managed to put a lot of new stock out to keep customers interest looking through the rails.
Vanessa was sorting through the many donations, she also became a real pro at hanging and tagging garments. Thanks to Vanessa, steaming the garments, we were able to keep Eileen busy putting them out.
As the manager, I would like to express my thanks to all concerned. We all had a fantastic time together learning new skills. Now we have gained three new volunteers !!
