On 6th May 2018 Cllr Ken Robson Vice Chairman of GARA and Arun Chandran Secretary, began gathering a Petition against Livin’s Regeneration Scheme Option 3, the demolition and rebuild of 6 streets in the Western area of the town.
Statistics of Signatures Obtained (First Visit)
Silverdale – Signatures 39 of which 19 Tenants, 15 Home Owners, 5 Private Tenants.
Langdale – Signatures 38 of which 23 Tenants, 14 Home Owners, 1 Private Tenants
Eskdale – Signatures 26 of which 16 Tenants, 7 Home Owners, 3 Private Tenants
Whinlatter – Signatures 36 of which 20 Tenants, 14 Home Owners, 2 Private Tenants
Kirkstone – Signatures 26 of which 13 Tenants, 8 Home Owners, 5 Private Tenants
Honister – Signatures 49 of which 31 Tenants, 14 Home Owners, 3 Private Tenants
In Silverdale we met 2 Owners undecided and 2 Tenants in favour of Livin’s Option3
In Langdale we met only 1 owner and 2 Tenants in favour of Livin’s Option 3.
In Eskdale we met only 1 Owner who was undecided and 2 Tenants in favour of Livin’s Option 3
In Whinlatter 1 Owner was undecided, 1 Owner in favour and 3 Tenants in favour of Livin’s Option 3.
In Kirkstone 1 Owner was in favour and 2 Tenants in favour of Livin’s Option 3.
In Honister 2 Owners in favour and 6 Tenants in favour of Livin’s Option 3.
What is clear so far is that Tenants are overwhelmingly against Livin’s Option 3, despite Livin’s offer of £6,100 to each tenant if the scheme goes ahead.
Residents are rock solid whether Owner or Tenant against the scheme.
In a lot of cases Tenants and Owners have recently had visits from Livin and were completely unsatisfied by Livin’s answers. First visits completed 20.5.2018
The Total Opposed to Livin’s Option 3: 214 (of which Owners 91, Tenants 123)
Only 21 were in favour of demolition and did not sign the petition (of which Owners 5, Tenants 16).
GARA officers Ken and Arun are calling back on those who weren’t in when they first called.
