Local adults with learning disabilities thank supporters for their ‘best ever’ Summer Festival. In the region of 800 people attended this year’s family fundraiser event at the Pioneering Care Centre in Newton Aycliffe. The Options members were delighted people came from all over the County as they put a lot of work into the planning, baking, leaflet dropping, raffle prize obtaining and decorating leading up to the event. They were also busy manning stalls, welcoming visitors, serving afternoon tea and performing a very special dance routine on the day, which you can see on YouTube: https://youtu.be/ cqrzPP-yOHw Their hard work paid off though as they raised an astonishing £2130 that will go towards new resources and activities for the group. Michael Smallman, Options member said “Thank you to all the people who came and supported the event.” Gillian Clarke, also an Options member said “Thank you to everyone who gave us money.
It will help pay for activities and trips that we all enjoy.” Daphne Bowman was one of the visitors and said “I had a wonderful day, plenty of hard work went into it by the staff and members and all the people involved. Well done Options for a very successful day, you are great! Many thanks to the coffee shop for the lovely food and drinks too.” The feel good family event included live performances, a bungee run, strong man competition, bouncy castle, face painter, stalls and games. The Police Interceptors from Channel 5’s popular TV show made an appearance and the party atmosphere continued until 8pm with the Options Social Club BBQ.
