Dear Sir,
When Phil Wilson was re-elected as MP for Sedgefield, he stood up on a platform and said he wanted to stay in ‘reformed Europe’, since then he has not said how the European Union should be reformed. Instead the Phil Wilson and Labour party in general have descended into ‘project fear’ if United Kingdom voted to leave the EU.
Another line Phil Wilson used during the general election campaign was if we left the EU, Nissan would leave the UK. Recently as September last year, Nissan Europe chairman Paul Wilcox said on the ‘Today’ program “our position in terms of competitiveness is driven by not only the situation in Europe in terms of whether we’re in or out of the EU, but more importantly the commitment of the people in the North East and supply chain. Focus really should be in that area because that is why we have such a great success story – the combined impact of our investment but also supply chain and a great workforce”.
With eggs firmly on Labour’s face and indeed Phil Wilson, they’re still scaremongering voters into voting to stay in the European Union. Why should we continue to pay £55 million a day into an organisation which hasn’t had its accounts signed off for the last 20 years.
Freed from the Shackles of the EU, we will be able to reoccupy our seat on the World Trade Organisation and sign new trade agreements with the rest of the world to build a more sustainable economy for the long term, that would provide the revenues necessary to help reduce taxes and provide additional spending for important public services such as the NHS.
Only outside the European Union can we make our parliament sovereign again, where we elect MP’s to make laws on our behalf and if we’re not satisfied we can kick them out after 5 years. We want Britain to be an independent, self- governing democracy.
