WILLIAM (BILL) BLENKINSOPP
Great Aycliffe Town Council is saddened to mark the passing, last week, of one of its long-serving former councillors, Bill Blenkinsopp.
The former Councillor Blenkinsopp had a long career in local politics, serving on Durham County Council, the former Sedgefield Borough Council and Great Aycliffe Town Council, where he represented Aycliffe Village for many years.
He cared passionately for Aycliffe Village, where he was born and lived most of his life. Bill was a well-known and popular figure in his home village and around County Durham, a man who never let the severe injuries he sustained in a catastrophic car accident in his youth stop him living his life and working for the local people he represented.
Bill will be remembered with respect, and missed by all who knew him.
