MARY DALTON
It is with deep sadness that we have received the news that Mary Dalton, former Councillor and Mayor of Great Aycliffe Town Council, has passed away.
Mary was a long-standing Town Councillor and was Mayor of Great Aycliffe Town Council on six occasions. She turned 99 years young on 7th June, she was also reputedly the oldest serving Mayor in her final term of office in 2021.
As Mayor, she represented the town at hundreds of events over the years and was well known around the area with her fundraising towards the various charities she supported. These included S.S.A.F.A., North East Army Benevolent Fund and many local town charities.
Mary will be sadly missed be everyone at the Town Council and we send our sincere condolences to her family.
