Dear Sir,
There are a number of vehicle owners who wrongly display their registration plates.
It is illegal to tamper with the spacing or letters on a number plate. For example, displaying the reg as, JN 51MON, when it should be displayed correctly as JN51 MON. It is also illegal to put a dark or light film over the number plate, called Ghosting, to try and avoid the number plate being read by ANPR or Speed Cameras.
It is illegal to display your number plate in the windscreen, it must always be displayed in the correct position on the front of the vehicle.
Those who have bought their Registration Number (called personalised) or anyone who alters their Number to personalise it, the DVLA can recall that registration number, as you only lease it from the DVLA. You will not only end up with a fine and possibly the cost of replacing the registration.
For more information on the correct way to display you registration, look at Leaflet INF 104. Which can also be read on line.
Be safe, be legal.
