Raising Aspirations and Transforming Lives in a Successful Learning Community.
Prospective students and their families are warmly invited to our open evening and afternoon. We look forward to meeting you and your children as you make important choices for your child’s future.
Experience the school in action, talk to students and teachers, join a guided tour or wander at your leisure as you make an important decision for the next stage of your child’s life.
We strive to provide a caring and supportive learning environment for all students, whilst working in partnership with families and other agencies to help your child achieve their full potential. Greenfield values all students and provides a wide curriculum equipped to meet the needs of all children.
Opportunities are vast; students gain confidence and skills from the experiences we offer outside of the classroom.
The school makes effective use of its specialist status to spread good practice and learning is enriched through the many opportunities and experiences it has introduced.
OFSTED July 2011 said “Learning is increasingly good and sometimes outstanding. Teachers use a variety of interesting activities which capture students’ imagination” they also said “Students continue to have good relationships with their teachers and this contributes to students’ good behaviour and attitudes to learning”.

Moving On, Moving Up
2012 has been a year of celebrations at Greenfield, achieving: UNICEF’s Rights Respecting Schools Award, The International Schools Award, The Gold Award for Sports, not to mention our record GCSE results. It is  therefore unsurprising that such a huge group of students, looking smart in their new uniforms, descended from cars, on foot and on bicycles, some looking apprehensive, others confident and excited and poured into Greenfield.
We were welcoming our Class of 2017. In fact with such strong numbers this year we have happily had to increase our staffing in the key areas of Maths, English and Science to ensure that the needs of all our young people are met in full. Eagerly awaiting their first assembly, it dawned upon the students how proud they felt to be part of Greenfield.  Challenges were set for the next five years—to be amazing, to build upon successes, to grasp opportunities, and to aspire to be the best.
It is not difficult to grasp opportunities at Greenfield because we offer so much. Staff who believe in developing the whole child go the extra mile to help every student fulfil their potential. With a huge range of opportunities both inside and outside the classroom there is something for everyone. No wonder then that in a recent survey our students gave the school their highest score for ‘looking after students well’. Positive relationships develop between all age groups through Time 4 Success, our Vertical Tutor System.
A structured programme helps all students develop important life skills and become independent enquirers, a skill essential as they move through the education system and make future choices. We want you to find out for yourselves the many opportunities we have to offer and look forward to welcoming Year 6 students and their families to our school to see us in action.
In the meantime have a look at the quotes below of a few of our Year 7s then check out our website to get a feel for our school, we are certain you will like what you see. Willow from Stephenson Way said “Loved dance and the smile never left my face because it was fun” Ryan from St. Francis said “Didn’t expect so many different and challenging lessons they were outstanding” Matthew from Aycliffe Village said “Maths is the best – our teacher makes us work hard and I think I’ve done well in my test”.

Greenfield – Providing a quality experience for all

Our stated educational purpose of ‘raising aspirations and transforming lives in a successful learning community’ certainly came to fruition for the class of 2012 and we are delighted to present their results. Once again our students, supported by an outstanding team of teachers, achieved record results.
We are particularly proud that improved results in Modern Foreign languages and Humanities subjects led to an 18% increase in students achieving the EBacc [English Baccalaureate]; made up of English, Maths, 2 Sciences, a Modern Foreign Language and either History or Geography all at grade A*-C. In both French and German more than 70% of students entered achieved high grades and in History an impressive 55% achieved A*/A grades. Our triple scientists all achieved A*-C grades and we are delighted that 88% of the cohort will leave Greenfield with 2 high passes in Science. Results in Performing Arts and PE sustained their outstanding success with 100% of the department cohort achieving A*-C grades in Music, Dance, Drama and PE/Sport.
The government’s key performance indicator continues to be 5A*-C grades including English and Maths. We are proud to announce an increase of 4% to 54%, at a time when many schools nationally have suffered a drop in results. In English, the percentage of  pupils achieving A*-C grades increased. However we share the national frustration that so many pupils had their results downgraded as a result of the changes to grade boundaries. In Maths we saw a 7% rise in A*-C grades for the second consecutive year.
High quality teaching combined with high aspirations led to 32% of the cohort achieving 3+ A*/A, and 95% achieving 5 or more high grades, an increase of 13%. These stunning results reflect our commitment to provide opportunities for all pupils to achieve at the highest level.  There were some outstanding individual results. 14 of the cohort gained 8 or more A*/A grades and 8 students achieved more than 10 A*/A grades each. Special recognition goes to Sam and Emma who gained a staggering 27 A/A* grades between them.
At Greenfield we celebrate the achievement of all our young people and we are proud that they leave us as mature and caring young citizens, equipped with the skills and knowledge to move successfully into the next phase of their lives.
