THE REGION’S largest wedding showcase will fly the flag for diversity, with a catwalk event which promotes inclusivity.

On 25-26 January 2020, Newcastle’s Utilita Arena will play host to the Northern Wedding Show, which will include the chance to meet the star of Channel 4’s The Posh Frock Shop, bridal couturier, Ian Stuart– and win one of his coveted designer gowns.

And one of the highlights of the events – along with the opportunity to win a £2000 spending spree – will be a wedding catwalk spectacular, which will see real life brides-to-be, plus size models, social media influencers and a transgender model showing off the dresses created by leading bridal brands.

Karen Bell, owner of North East based Belle Events and Exhibitions, which is staging the event, believes the catwalk show is a first for the region.

“Brides and grooms come in all shapes, sizes and genders and so it was absolutely crucial to use to reflect this,” she said.

“This is all about an event which has something for everyone.”

The show will give couples the opportunity to meet with wedding suppliers covering everything from reception entertainment to honeymoons and luxury wedding venues, having already attracted more than 100 exhibitors.

Experts will be providing invaluable information and tips for anyone planning their big day, including the special sessions with Ian Stuart who will be showcasing his 2020 collection for both brides and mother-of-the-bride.

Other big names taking part include House of Mooshki and its sister brand, Grace Philips, known for their vintage styles and dramatic creations, as well as the chic tailoring of their mother-of-the-bride collection.

“This is an arena wedding show that offers a glittering array of specialist luxury suppliers,” said Karen.

“There will be more than 120 of the north’s finest exhibitors, a tipi festival village, incredible bridal goodie bags, four inclusive designer bridal catwalks featuring some of the world’s most iconic design houses and incredible entertainment.”

Tickets, available from www.northernweddingshow.co.uk,  are £10.30; £14.30 for VIP; groups in multiples of four can gain entry for £8.30 per person. Under 15s go free.

Tickets include a goody bag worth £20 for general admission, or worth £30 for VIP which includes a free Nails INC gel polish.
