Youth groups and community sports organisations across the North East are in line for a cash contribution from Tour de Moon – an out of this world festival.
But those who want to be involved in the exciting opportunity need to put a rocket under their application, to be sure they don’t miss out.
Tour De Moon is an imaginative, creative celebration taking place in a handful of specially chosen locations around the UK in May and June – including Newcastle.
And among the many events is Moon Sports, taking place in a huge, specially commissioned inflatable playground, developed in collaboration with space scientists at NASA, which will be installed at Newcastle’s Walker Activity Dome, Wharrier Street from 27-30 May.
Sports groups and clubs of all kinds from across the region are being invited to take part in the once-in-a-lifetime experience, helping to shape and design games ahead of visiting the giant, colourful and unique inflatable playground.
And those who successfully sign up will be given £500 for their organisation, which they can use as they see fit.
Groups that sign up with be asked to take part in a creative workshop ahead of the festival, which will give them the opportunity to stamp their own identity on the experience.
“This is a great opportunity for sports organisations to take part in something unique, come along and have a fantastic team building experience and also get a financial boost for their organisation,” said Rob Povey, Producer Moon: Music, Cinema, Sport and Bars.
“There are a limited number of opportunities left however for groups to benefit from the £500 so we are really urging people to register as soon as possible.
“This is not only going to be a great way for clubs and groups to have a shared experience, but it will also be an amazing team building opportunity which we believe everyone who takes part will benefit from.”
The structure is being created by Glow Inflatables, which has worked on huge international projects including for Formula 1 in Singapore to set dressing for Coldplay when they performed on American Idol.
Jenny Hutchinson, Creative Director at Glow Inflatables, thinks this is an amazing opportunity.
“The Glow team are so excited to be working on this incredible project and are using all our creativity to build some absolutely awe-inspiring inflatables for everyone who takes part in Moon Sport to enjoy,” she said.
