Dear Sir,
I would like to thank Aycliffe Radio for giving these two young people a chance to taste local radio and share some of the music from Nigeria.
Aycliffe Radio presenter, Colin, was most friendly and supportive to his visitors and made them feel very welcome and at home in the studio.
He has also, very kindly, offered to help them produce a show of their own. Their mum, a qualified midwife, came along too and I can confirm she cooks a magnificent chicken and rice with spicy gravy.
We sometimes go together to Glow Church, near to UTC, where Chris studies Sports Science. Prisca likes music and art and is very sporty giving her all to the discus and shot putt for Greenfield School.
Many of the local African community attend Glow Church and will be thrilled to hear Nigerian music on Aycliffe Radio.
The families are bringing many good skills to the town including GP doctors, midwives, pharmacists, etc.
So, let’s give them a hearty Newton Aycliffe welcome, their colourful traditional African costumes, music and food make Newton Aycliffe a more multi-cultural place to live.
Big thanks to Aycliffe Radio and Colin McNeillie for your kind hospitality.
Cllr Tony Armstrong
