Emil Franchi – currently network presenter on the Wireless groups Late Show is packing his suitcases and heading home to Newton Aycliffe. Emil is set to take on the drive show on Star Radio. Star Radio’s MD – John Clayton said “it’s unusual that someone of Emil’s talent become available and for him to be a local lad is an even bigger advantage. Combine his local knowledge with his undoubted ability and creativity – the North East is set to get its most exciting Drive show for some time! Newly appointed Content Manager Craig Andrews went on to say “these are exciting times for Star Radio, and given my own longevity at Star – I can honestly say I can’t wait for the new year to begin, with the new schedule in place and an even greater emphasis on making truly great local radio” Emil is set to join the radio station for his first show on Tuesday 3rd January.  He mentioned “I will be in situ at the station well before the new year and spending the Christmas period gathering some great content and planning the new show. To return home is going to be something special. Star Radio was the station I listened to when on my way to school in Aycliffe and  I cannot wait to get started”
