A great day was enjoyed by all who came to celebrate a milestone in the history of this local business. The Howarth family, friends and business colleagues came together to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Newton Press.
The business, formed by Syd Howarth in 1963, celebrated its 60 years on Sunday 17th September in the private compound behind the offices on St. Cuthberts Way.
Everyone who attended was entertained by Nev & Olivia Jones and Cassie Bowtell.
They were treated to ice creams from Wonderfully Whippy and fed by Beverley Howarth, supplied by Don Walker and Lisa, Beverley also made three amazing cakes and, along with Carrie, organised and catered the whole event, complimentary goodie bags were given out during the tours of the business premises showing the digital, state of the art equipment upstairs, and the traditional print machinery downstairs, including one of Syd’s original presses, a 1950 Heidelberg Platen, still in use today.
A fantastic day commemorating Syd Howarth and all Newton Press have achieved over the last six decades.
A massive thank you to Beverley, Carrie, Don, Lisa, Nev, Olivia and Cassie for helping to make it a day to remember.
Here’s to another 60 years.
